Form & Content 4

The Xbox 360 was released on November 16th, 2005 by Microsoft. This is the logo they have used to promote the console ever since its release. It is the second console released by Microsoft so it has a focus of a modern look to the design, clean lines and shapes, simple yet powerful and universally recognized.

I picked this logo because it is something I see everyday when I turn my Xbox on and enjoy the world of video games. I also picked it because I believe it to be a very successful logo and brand identity, throughout the entire life of the console so far, Microsoft has really played off these colors in their packaging and graphics and animations on the console. The connection between the content and form is that the 360 is the complete entertainment experience, much like the complete sphere used in the logo branded with the green X much like the entertainment is branded with the Xbox’s own flair and originality. What makes the piece visually interesting is how simple it is yet how well it is done. While only using two colors, it is visually captivating and dramatic. It is the image recognized with quality entertainment.
